Heaven and Earth

Time is a creation of human beings marking their passage with a timeless creator. 

Humans have divided one revolution of the earth and one trip around the sun to create time.

Our mind is constrained by space and time to create our experience of reality.

The moments between “Have a nice day” and “Good night moon” define a life. 

We need to spend these moments wisely as our time accelerates as it draws to a close. 

This mortal bodily life is merely a transition to an eternal spirit life. 

Seek solitude and take time to be alone without experiencing loneliness.

Take the path less traveled and see life as an endless adventure as you follow your bliss.

Appreciate the tenaciousness of your ancestral DNA, as the frost cannot reach deep roots.

Choose a life partner that makes you feel alive and stands with you against the world.

Support your life partner with compliments and dreams for the future.

To change your present life, invest in your life skills that prompts others to bid for them.

Always remember, only you can be a force for your time.  So pay attention to the dynamics.

Experience life to the fullest and remember that not all who wander are lost.

Only one divine man walked the earth in perfection, so understand and respect others.

 

Henry van Dyke has written:

“Time is

Too slow for those who wait,

Too swift for those who fear,

Too long for those who grieve,

Too short for those who rejoice;

But for those who love,

Time is not.”

 

And Ralph Waldo Emerson councils:

“Write it on your heart

that every day is the best day in the year.

He is rich who owns the day, and no one owns the day

who allows it to be invaded with fret and anxiety.

Finish every day and be done with it.

Some blunders and absurdities, no doubt crept in.

THE LIFE FORCE IN THE RIVER OF LIFE

White Water Adventure

We all know and must accept the undeniable fact that all things change, including our lives, no matter how much we may resist.  You can run from life, but you can’t hide.  As life continues its never-ending march, with or without us, we can never cross the same river twice, for by then both we and the river have changed.  We took rafting adventure trips on the Colorado River years ago and experienced intervals of exhilarating white water rapids and calm waters.  The path of life is strewn with highlights and lowlights and if we’re fully engaged, we will experience them multiple times.  But it’s the one who’s fully engaged in the great adventure with battle wounds and character lines that matters.  It’s the one who tries and fails and learns the lesson and then tries again and again.

If we are fortunate enough to see life through to a rather complete ending, we should be grateful, for many are denied that.  Surviving into senior living makes us witness to many of the people that we care about having difficult times.  We need to remind ourselves that we are witness to the natural progression of life.  And we must live our own life as best we can in the process, understanding that you can’t pour from an empty cup.  We can do what we can and support others as the river continues to flow along and be mindful that there remains an eternal Life Force in the water’s midst that never changes which we can cling to whenever we enter the turbulent rapids.

This is the time to live our own life to the fullest while being sympathetic to others and showing kindness to all.  It’s a time to care about family, friends, passions, and living in peace.  It’s past time to live as our creator intended.  It’s a time to no longer waste precious hours on trivial matters or criticisms.  It’s a time to share the measured wisdom of our years with the unfiltered voice of our childhood.  It’s a time to expose wrongdoing and stand up for those without a voice.  We’ve accumulated a legion of life lessons that need to be applied.  Because life no longer waits to be silenced.  

We’re all here to help each other muddle through and walk each other home.

THE ADVENTURE OF OPENING DOORS

“I say, follow your bliss and don’t be afraid, and doors will open where you didn’t know they were going to be. If you follow your bliss, doors will open for you that wouldn’t have opened for anyone else.” --Joseph Campbell

My two-year old grandson was visiting this Easter weekend and quickly discovered the pass-through door between the kitchen and dining room.  He immediately became fascinated with the ability to turn the door knob and move between the rooms to new adventures and imaginings.  He’s a naturally curious little guy which will serve him well in future life and the door provided endless play time in coming and going.  First, he drove his lighted fire truck through the matrix into new dimensions and then wheeled his tow truck into the portal to new adventures.  Soon he was beckoning his parents and Papa to open the door at his request or opening the door for them as they politely knocked on the other side to obtain entrance into his world.

Joseph Campbell has also written that "people say what we're all seeking is the meaning of life...I think what we're seeking is the experience of being alive."  There’s no better model of behavior for being alive than to experience the life of a two-year old at play.  There are no filters to edit out the most basic wonders of the world around us that we can no longer see or appreciate.  There is no bias or fear of giving strangers a high five if our family has introduced us.  An empty container, a cardboard box, a small fallen tree branch or an everyday door can be the source of endless entertainment when the imagination is engaged.  Having someone whose voice you recognize that is knocking on the other side makes for great fun when you open the door and find them waiting to greet you.

A famous painting exists of a prominent closed door with Jesus standing outside knocking. The subtle focal point of the painting is that the door does not have a door knob on the outside.  It’s the best example I can think of that illustrates the concept of free will which we all have been endowed with to either invite him into our lives or to shut him out.  But I believe that if we follow our bliss and freely open the door, we will encounter joy in life and experience the priceless adventure of being alive forever!

Serendipity,
waits on the road less traveled,
when adventure calls.

The path is grassy,
and few folks have passed this way.
No footprints are seen.

Nothing leads the way.
GPS recalculates.
No road signs exist.

But as we travel,
road blocks become stepping stones,
and we find our bliss.
